Meet Raymond Dilag

Raymond holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). He offers clients a curious and collaborative space to navigate emotions and experiences. His approach is grounded in person-centred principles, with a core approach in Narrative Therapy, working from the belief that lived experience shapes our sense of self and worldview. From a trauma-informed and culturally-responsive lens, he also incorporates modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping clients see their stories, beliefs, and patterns from a new perspective.

Areas of Focus
  • Immigrant Identity and Cultural Adjustment: navigating culture shock, life between cultures, and the experience of belonging to more than one world.
  • Men’s Mental Health and Emotion Regulation: helping men build a more attuned, honest relationship with their emotions and a stronger sense of identity.
  • Burnout and High Achievement Pressure: supporting those whose sense of worth has become tied to performance, productivity, or success.
  • Self Worth and Belonging: challenging inherited beliefs about how you were told you should be, and reconnecting with who you actually are.
  • Life Transitions: navigating major shifts in identity, culture, or life stage with clarity and support.
Perfect For
  • Individuals: Adult children of immigrant families navigating cultural adjustment and the quiet weight of expectations.
  • Men: Those who want a stronger relationship with their emotions but aren’t sure where to start.
  • Those Seeking Growth: Individuals who feel a pull toward exploring their inner world, breaking old patterns, and reconnecting with their most authentic self.
Raymond holds space for clients to slow down, reflect, and do the work at their own pace, without judgment. He also works with couples navigating connection and communication, and is bilingual in English and Tagalog.

Learn more about where Raymond’s story began

Raymond was born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and immigrated to Canada in 2009. Growing up in a Filipino immigrant family, he knows what it’s like to feel the pressure to work hard and make the most of the opportunities his family sacrificed for. Before entering the counselling field, he built a career as a paralegal and continues to work in the legal industry today. His experience supporting individuals through complex legal challenges deepened his understanding of the connection between mental health and high stress environments, which ultimately inspired him to pursue counselling.

Outside of the therapy room, Raymond enjoys playing guitar, writing music, travelling, experimenting with new recipes, and drawing inspiration from different cultures.
