Find Strength Through Support

Societal pressures can make men feel uncomfortable about obtaining counselling services. But the reality is that counselling is for anyone and can benefit everyone. Men are human too, and face many challenges in their life. At Nova Rain, we provide men (including gender identifying men) with a safe space to explore other parts of themselves, parts they might not be able to show of themselves in regular everyday life. If you are a man struggling and feeling stuck in your life, you are not alone, trust us. We are here to be a safe, non-judgemental space, help you to work though your own traumatic experiences, unhook from sticky unhelpful thoughts and feelings, and take action in the areas of your life that you desire.

About Your Therapists

Annie Kao

BCACC, Registered Clinical Counsellor

I provide a supportive, culturally informed space for men navigating emotional overwhelm, identity challenges, and pressure to meet expectations—whether at home, work, or within themselves. With training in Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and CBT, I help men unpack internalized stress, reflect without judgment, and make space for growth. Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward, therapy offers the tools to reconnect with your values, emotions, and sense of self—on your own terms.

Lina Lee

Registered Clinical Counsellor | Canadian Certified Counsellor with CCPA

I offer a warm and compassionate space for men working through shame, emotional disconnection, and the lingering effects of childhood or attachment wounds. Drawing on Compassion-Focused Therapy, along with Emotion-Focused, Somatic, Narrative, and Internal Family Systems approaches, I help clients build self-compassion, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves. Whether you’re facing past trauma, struggling with self-worth, or feeling stuck in life transitions, therapy can be a place to reconnect, heal, and grow.

Erin Cullinane

BCACC, Registered Clinical Counsellor

I support men who feel weighed down by stress, self-doubt, people pleasing, or the quiet pressure to always be strong and in control. My approach draws on mindfulness, parts work, and person-centred therapy to help you slow down, tune into your inner world, and reconnect with what matters most. In therapy we work to soften self-criticism, explore the patterns that keep you stuck, and create space for clarity, self-trust, and meaningful change. Healing doesn’t mean having it all figured out—it means having room to be human.

Shelby Rogers

MA, Counselling Psychology (Candidate), Pre-Licensed Therapist

I support men navigating the pressures and expectations that can make it difficult to talk openly about their emotions or struggles. Many men experience anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or feelings of isolation while trying to manage work, family, and personal responsibilities. Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore these experiences without judgment, and better understand the patterns and emotions beneath the surface. Using a compassionate approach grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy, I help men build emotional awareness, strengthen resilience, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

SHELBY ROGERS THERAPIST

Shelby Rogers

BCACC, Registered Clinical Counsellor

I support men who are navigating emotional stress, low mood, self-doubt, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Many carry the weight of expectations to appear strong, but struggle silently with anxiety, shame, or disconnection. In our work together, I offer a grounded, non-judgmental space to explore these experiences and reconnect with your sense of self. Using CBT, DBT, and ACT, we’ll build insight, emotional resilience, and a more authentic path forward—defined by your own values, not outside pressure.

Tarra Horsfield

BCACC, Registered Clinical Counsellor
(On Maternity Leave)

I provide a safe, judgment-free space for men facing challenges like grief, depression, burnout, relationship strain, or feeling emotionally stuck. With an approach shaped by lived experience and deep empathy, I help men untangle difficult emotions, confront internal and external pressures, and reconnect with their sense of self. Together, we work to align your actions with your values—building resilience, clarity, and stronger relationships in both your personal and professional life.
